Contemporary Craft

The definition of craft is a widely debated topic and is ever evolving. We love the definition from Craft Scotland who describe contemporary craft as “an art form and an activity that brings daily joy and wellbeing to our communities."

Here at the 1970 gallery, we have an eclectic range of makers whose mediums focus on glass, clay, wood, felt, mixed media and metal.  Many reuse and repurpose materials bringing what many of us would throw away back to life, in new, fun, joyful and interesting ways!
