About Us
William Morris once said “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful” – a philosophy that we aim to bring to the 1970.
Emma owned and ran a popular high street gallery in Dorset for over a decade. In that time, she made long-lasting friendships with many of the artists and makers the gallery represented. For her this is the best bit about owning a gallery; being a small part of their creative lives, the buzz when she sells something on their behalf, telling their story to a prospective buyer, collaborating, and seeing ideas go from words to paintings/products and ultimately into people’s homes where they will be used, enjoyed and cherished.
Since moving to Skye in 2023, she has had a hankering to do it all again, without the headache of owning a high street retail space. She utilised an open plan space in her home as a small pop-up style gallery showcasing artwork, contemporary craft, books, homewares and gifts from some of the UK’s and Scotland’s most popular, collectible and talented artists, makers and writers.
