Kara Leigh Ford
Kara grew up by the coast and it has been a constant source of inspiration in her work, especially the colours and textures that can be found around the British coastline.
She did a fine art degree at university but it is pottery that has her heart! She became a full-time potter in 2015 and is well regarded within its community having written a book called “Pottery for Beginners”, running her successful online Pottery Club and a training course for those wanting to try their hand at wholesale.
Everything is designed and hand thrown in her garden studio where she makes functional ceramics, firing them in her kiln called Derek!
The Coastal Edges collection is a wonderful collaboration between the 1970 Gallery and Kara creating unique mountain patterns which echo the views and landscapes seen throughout Skye and beyond.
