Ben Spurling

Ben can often been seen riding around his Dorset home on his yellow bike with his pochade painting box and easel as he settles himself into the landscape to paint en-plein air ("out in the open").

Although based on the south coast, Scotland and in particular the north west coast, hold a special place in his heart and its landscape and coastline is one that he loves to return to in his paintings.

Working in oils and with his skills gained in his BA Honours in Illustration, he paints sketches on location to observe colours and develop a closer affinity with the subject.
