Helena is an artist inspired by the beautiful Isle of Skye where she lives. She grew up in Edinburgh, graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a BA Hons from the Embroidered and Woven Textiles Department, and moved to the Isle of Skye 26 years ago.

Her hand-dyed thread pieces are inspired by the beautiful land and seascapes that surround her and capture their essence in a controlled and precise technique. Her carefully hand-dyed threads create a personal palette and she then very accurately wraps the threads around wood that she has delicately shaped. It takes many many hours to create a thread-piece from start to finish and it's a discipline that requires patience.
